What Can We Offer?

Scalable Dedicated Connections up to 10 Gbps

Choice without the hassle

The VoiceHost Ethernet network is a natural extension of the VoiceHost Broadband Network. It's designed to meet the requirements of businesses who need larger amounts of guaranteed bandwidth for their operations than Broadband can provide.

We interconnect with British Telecom, Vodafone, TalkTalk Business, Neos, COLT, Sky, Virgin, Virtual 1, ITS and CityFibre to maximise the availability of Ethernet circuits to our customers at a competitive price.

UK wide coverage and ALT-net ready.

VoiceHost is able to provide EFM and/or Ethernet circuits at almost any location in the UK due to our interconnect diversity.

We pride ourselves on providing a highly resilient and reliable service to our customers. All circuits from VoiceHost additionally benefit from 24/7 support from our Norwich based Technical support team, as well as a range of QoS (quality of service) options to optimise your voice communications.

If you're already using our Voice Platform, or are planning to, an Ethernet circuit from VoiceHost is the best possible choice to guarantee the availability and reliability of your communications.

Resilience and Assurance

Businesses demand reliable connectivity but a single point of failure can ruin it all. Shadow VLANs and RA02 are two options that help reduce risk.

Shadow VLANs allow for resilient provider routing at the network layer and RA02 allows for resilience at the physical layer. This is a superior method over backup connections that would be routed through much of the same physical layer.

Leased Line SLA (Sevice Level Agreements) vary between infrastructure operators. They are far more substantive that traditional broadband with them all broadly offering a 100% target uptime, 4 hours repair time and rental credits for any disruption. Some will even guarantee a maximum latency.

Layer 2 services from our connectivity partners via our own network.

Leased Line Installation Process

As specialists we can make the process stress-free for you. The average timescale for the process is between 45-90 days.

01

Surveys

After ordering your leased line service, The physical network operator (Openreach/CityFibre/ITS etc) conducts a site survey to assess connection requirements to the local PoP (Point-of-Presence).

You can cancel if significant work is needed, potentially adding cost and delay known as EECs (Excess Construction Charges).

The survey also checks feasibility for requested diversity options like RA02. Road closures or other obstacles may affect delivery. Engineers then plan the circuit path and routing for quick installation. The site survey is crucial for assessing feasibility, identifying hurdles, and gathering installation information.

02

Planning Permissions and Wayleave Agreements

Planning and wayleave requirements arise when cables need laying across areas requiring structural changes, such as installing poles or masts. Guidelines ensure minimal environmental impact. Delays often stem from landlord approval for wayleave agreements, which may require legal adjustments and consideration. It's crucial to secure planning permissions and wayleave agreements before installation to prevent delays. The physical network operator handles the planning permission application to expedite the process and mitigate potential disputes. Communication with the landlord can help address concerns and streamline the process.

03

Civil Engineering Work

Civil works involve trench digging for cabling and fiber-optic lines, requiring permissions to excavate pavements, roads, and private land, which can be time-consuming. Delays may occur due to issues like burst water mains. Fiber-optic cables are installed by pulling or blowing through existing ducts. Adding a second circuit for diversity can be time-consuming and may involve additional routes or poles, depending on cost considerations. Splicing existing fiber with new fiber is part of the process outlined in the site survey. The final step is connecting the ONT within the customer's business.

Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) Installation and Testing

The decision on which router to use is dependent on bandwidth (throughput) and features (security and Wi-Fi). VoiceHost offers optional routers or you may choose to provide your own. Configuration of the devices is undertaken by VoiceHost teams and based on the initial required setup. The initial setup will also include any IPv4 addressing subnets and any other configuration options. IPv6 is enabled by default.

The Circuit is tested to ensure it is fully functioning before being handed over, which starts the minimum term and billing.

Leased Line FAQs

We can provide additional IPv4 subnets to your connections (subject to conditions and additional charges). We also provide customers with a /64 IPv6 subnet (18,446,744,073,709,551,616 addresses as standard).

Each products is clearly sign-posted before you order with its term. Typically in multiples of years (1 year to 5 years) depending on your preference.

Service Management is an optional add-on. Our support team will service any router requests, ensure firmware is maintained and action configuration changes. All backed up by our 24/7 support service. Great if you don't want the hassle of dealing with the equiptment.

Yes! You can upgrade you bandwidth(typically in increments of 100Mb) as long as it remains under the bearer value of the service (typically 1Gb or 10Gb).

At the end of the minimum contract term you can continue to use the service or you can renew for another fixed term.
